DM 58 Impala hardtop arrived recently from Rich Faber. Outstanding model, perfect condition where the previous owner has replaced the 'cannons' with thinner aerials. Sorta completes my Impala collection. I know they are hard to identify in the pics but I now have at least one converitible and hardtop from 1958 to 1964 with models from both mints and WCPD.  And John B, just added the 1947 Studebaker Pickup Truck Ertl Thom's Fishing Bait & Tackle 1/25. Great little model. Excellent value for money, nice detail, fantastic graphics and the accessories, especially the boat, are worth the price of admission alone.

Thank you for the mention Geoff.....you have a remarkable talent for the presentation of an exquisite management of such a tumultuous arrangement....the angles, the presence and relief of the structure amidst chaos.......your additional use of the little teardrop trailer is inspired

Thanks for the mention, Geoff. so glad you like the model. Incidentally, the "previous owner" who replaced the antennas was me! I'd done it to a few of the '58 Impalas in my own collection for two reasons: one, many of these come with broken antennas, and I got tired of hunting down parts cars that cost far more than mere parts cars should, and two, I just think they look better than the clunky antennas Danbury Mint produced on the models. I think they're much more realistic the way I do them, and in scale. I did research to make sure I was getting the shapes of the bases right, and painted the bottom edges to look like the correct black rubber gaskets. The base from the very common Harbor Blue '57 Bel Air is a nearly perfect match to the base of the '58 bases, so I've been using those, cutting off the plastic masts, drilling them out with a thin bit in my pin vise (very difficult and tedious to do, but well worth the effort), and cutting pins to the correct height and filing the heads to the correct size and shape. I decided to take some of the "parts cars" I had, and outfit them with new sets of antennas, and since I like them, I figured others would too, so I began selling those modified Chevys on eBay. I'll probably do a few more to sell, before I run out of cars and parts. It's a lot of work for a small detail, but I enjoy doing modifications in general, so it's not a chore for me. Again, I'm pleased you like the way it turned out, and thanks again for the purchase, and the shout out!

Best,

Rich

thanks for the info Rich, as we can all see you did a great job, well done. For those who are reluctant to buy from ebay, and I can understand reservations, buying from Rich is like buying from the mints. Same model quality, secure packaging and quick and personal service. Very nice of you, Geoff. I am a collector first, myself, so I pack them the way I'd want to receive them. Thank you again!

Best,

Rich
