DM About Face
Please Help, sometime about last summer a member told of the Danbury Mint replacing Door Panels on the 48 Buick. New Door Panels have the Electric Window Lift controls rather than the Cranks. I called CS then and told them I have one of those cars. The CS Rep took information and said they would be sending them. Well they never arrived and when I inquired on December 27th 06 they knew nothing about the problem. They just called last week, 1/31/07 to say they were not replacing the door panels because they had no way to do that! A message on the Voice Mail, left by Shelia. In their defense I called them this AM and they offered to replace the car, though she was quite Curt about it and implying I knew nothing. Read that as "It's My way or the Highway". I originally received the car in June 2005. I have bought 42 cars in 2006, including two 1/12th's so that may have some effect on their offer to replace it after the usual 30 days. I am afraid to return the car as I don't want to get one of those re-gifted defectives everyone is talking about, especially the 57 Biarritz. Other than the window cranks the model is perfect! has anyone received door panels? My Biarritz has the missing tooth and they told me a couple of weeks ago they would send a new grill, now???
I think half of these DM CS Reps don't know what they are doing? Any comments?
Are you talking about the convertible? If so, I just got one two weeks ago...
with correct electric lift switches and the car was PERFECT!
I got mine about 6-8 weeks ago with the electric window switches....
Received my 48 Buick replacement a month ago....
Door panels with window switch. Sent back and waiting for a replacement because the right door was not closing properly.
I bought mine at issue time and being aware of the problem.
Next delivery is April 2007.
Order another, pay for it, then return it or your other if one is a keeper.
I think if you simply called them and told them you would prefer the corrected version (w/o cranks) they would exchange with no questions asked.
It's possible that when we call DM on an issue like this we may be giving non-car people too much info and it sometimes puts them in a defensive posture (rightfully or wrongfully) because what we are attempting to tell them, as basic to us as it may seem, is going right over their heads.
Jmo, and in no way an insult to anyone's intelligence.
