In the mid-1960s, I always got excited when the neighbors' grandma and grandpa would show up with an absolutely pristine, all black '48 Chevy fastback which was the first car they bought after WWll. They lived nearby, and I don't think grandpa ever went over 25 mph with it. I dreamed of buying the car, getting the gang together and dropping a 327 engine in it, although I realized later that shoehorning a V8 to replace that 'stove bolt' would have been way beyond our abilities and/or budget. Danbury Mint's gorgeous Aerosedan fastback, always makes me smile. It's optioned out with all the bells and whistles available and is beautifully executed. The black '48? By the time I came back from overseas, it was gone (along with the grandparents). Somebody else had their eye on it too.
I too have memories of a black 48 Chevrolet fast back. My dad car pooled with a man who had one who must have visited Western Auto because I can remember the bird hood ornament with it's plastic red wings and vent window wind deflectors which were also red plastic. Have this model and love this creation from Danbury Mint. As usual Rich, outstanding pictures. I can't recall if it was you or Tony who sold me on this wonderful model.
I don't have this one as it's out of my range of collecting, but she's a beauty. 😊💯
@bob-jackman You can't blame Tony or I for your hopeless addiction, Bob. I'm sure your therapist would have you own it.
DMs second last model. What a way to go out! Love the fastback styling so I ordered it on release. Thanks Rich
