I loved the look of this 1956 Continental Mkll from the first time I saw it. I was never that fond of the tons of chrome trim or the wild tail fins of that era and this car struck me with its understated elegance. As, over the years, the Mkll began to disappear off the roads and used car lots, I was never in the financial position to buy one. Although my 1956 Mercury Montclair did have that wonderful 368 V8 in it as a transplant. Of all the iterations of this Franklin Mint model, I like this cream colored (technically: White) the best.
It sure is striking, especially with the red/white interior.
There's no denying the elegance of the Mark II and I have the model in all of the colors FM offered it in. I guess I'm in the minority but IMO the Premier for 1956 is one of the most beautifully designed cars in the fifties. Too bad that in the following year, Lincoln decided to destroy the car with the outrageous fins.
I have an artist's proof version of this cream car. No LE #. The only color variation I don't have is the original black.
I think this is one of the best looking cars of all time.
Great photos of a nice FM model. Admittedly, I don't really care for the look and styling of the car, but I do appreciate its place in automotive history. I have the Black version and glad I do. I'll also admit that, most here know I'm not a fan of White cars, I will say this Continental looks nice in White.
