Here's the results of the color combination poll:
The consensus was that a coupe would look better with a black top/interior while the convertible would look better with a white top/interior. It was pretty close, so there was only one thing to do. Build one of each!
DM 1966 Mustangs are very reasonable on eBay. A white/blue convertible can be had for $35 and the burgundy hardtop around $70, even less without the boxes.
Here they are stripped and ready for paint.
I didn't take any in-process pics, but you guys made it easy with the coupe. I didn't have to do a color change on the interior or the top. The convertible interior was changed to emberglo and white. Convertible top boots are generally the same color as the predominant interior color, so this one is a darker shade of emberglo to match the seats, covered with a semi-gloss clear. The "carpet" color is emberglo with a tooch of black to darken it and painted with flat clear.
So, here are the poll results, DM 1966 Mustang coupe in Emberglo and black, and DM 1966 Mustang convertible in Emberglo and white:
One thing that bothered me about DM's '66 Mustangs is the headlights---they seem to bulge out. So I drilled out the headlight casting so they would set farther in the headlight "bucket".
I also detailed the wheels properly and dulled down the super shiny vinyl top on the coupe. Trunks mats were also painted gray to more closely match the plaid mats in the real cars and the angle of the rear license plates were adjusted so they didn't tuck under so much.
I hope you enjoy the results of the color combo poll!

Awesome! I think I like the convertible, maybe because of the interior, just a touch more than the hardtop. But both are.............AWESOME!
