Some die cast sellers will only accept Paypal. Would much appreciate your input (good and bad) in the use of these accounts. One reason I am concerned is that I have lately been receiving emails from someone purported to be with Paypal asking for personal information . . . and I don't have a Paypal account.
Do you recommend this payment method?
Here is what I think..
I happened to be Seller and Buyer using PayPal.Seller side: Paypal is the fastest and convenient form to get paid for the item sold, plus you can print and pay your buyer's shipping label, free delivery confirmation and now you can even buy insurance for the item you are shipping from your own computer at home. All you need is a good weight scale and you are ready to roll. Only downside that you get charged a 2.9% of all money you receive.
Buyer: The best, as a buyer you have the advantage to pay your seller right away. No postage and/or Money Order fees. The best is that as a buyer you are protected against all frauds and no delivery. I have received the benefits of this protection with great satisfaction more than a couple of times. Pay Pal will try to resolve an issue in case you get a distressed or damaged item and seller doesn't want to refund or provide a solution, all you have to do is put a claim within 30 days from the date you paid your seller. In short PayPal is like buying with a credit card. As a seller I think Pay Pal is good, but as a buyer I think is the BEST!
The Email from Paypal is not from Paypal. It's crooked, delete !
Thanks, I sort of figured that out, since I don't have an account with Paypal.
I have used Paypal for a few years as a buyer & I really, really love it.
If seller will not accept cashiers check don't buy
The least places you can have your credit card info registered the better protection against fraud
I agree!
I have been using PayPal as a seller & buyer since its inception - NO PROBLEMS!
Worry-wart.
In today's society, if you aren't buying off the internet with a credit card, you're still in the dark ages. I've been doing it for years with no issues at all. If someone wants your personal info, they're going to get it one way or another. Just like padlocks ..... they only keep honest people honest.
Paypal is VERY convienient.....
You do need to use common sense but I've never had a problem and I've been using it since they paid $10 to join... If I buy something on e-bay it can normally be shipped the next day w-out the hassle of buying m-order or cashiers check, which I HAVE had lost in the mail, let alone stamps and driving around and the waiting involved....
In fact when my m-order was lost it cost me another $12 (plus more stamps and countless hours of phone calls and frustration) to put a trace on it and I had to wait 90 days for the refund, which was rather embarrassing for me as I mailed it the day following the auction... I have to want somthing pretty bad (since then) to not use paypal....
Thanks everyone for your comments. I've decided to go for it.
I use paypal for buying only....so far. It used to take at least three days to get a money order to someone (by priority mail) and then they would send it.
It is possible, with paypal, to have the seller mail your package the next day.
However, I bought my Ertl '50 Olds with paypal and paid the seller for 3-day shipping. He didn't even mail the package for a few weeks.
If you get a fast turnaround with a good seller but a bad one is another matter. Always check feedback before buying on e-bay. Could have saved myself a lot of aggrevation.

Actually about that 2.9% fee for buying with Paypal its against the paypal policy to charge the buyer that fee. Its only ok if the buyer agrees to pay extra for the fee.
Excuse me, John.
I seem to have misplaced the matches to light my candles. Can you help?
The seller ALWAYS pays the fee, if payment is accepted through PayPal. It's the BUYER who doesn't pay a fee when paying with PayPal.
Some people just prefer to do it the other way John, doesn't mean they are in the dark ages !! If sellers on Ebay don't mind paying the paypal fee, plus the listing fee, plus the final value fee, then I guess that's up to them also.
