It seems that somewhere out there, a good number of molds for those great JoHann promos are still out there. They actually did at least one super detailed kit... the Chrysler Turbine car that's still around. There was one short-lived company in Texas that not only re-released a few in promo format, but actually converted the promo to a full kit with full interior, decal sheets as well as conversion parts. I managed to snag a '59 Rambler 'woody' station wagon that came out spectacularly well (I've posted pics of it before), and I wished I'd bought up what they had and done some of the conversions. I managed to find a few more in promo forms at shows and the castings and brightwork were as good as the originals. This DeSoto Fireflite 4 door poster got some paint, Bare Metal Foil, silver foil for the scripts and badging (it's infinitely thinner that BMF) and aluminum tubing for the exhaust. I also did a 4-door '56 Pontiac if anyone hasn't seen it, I'll post it.
A beautiful model. The 4-door '56 DeSoto is one of my favorite cars, and this model does it justice.

Beautiful detail on the DeSoto Rich. Would love to see the 56 Pontiac.

I'm with Bob on the Pontiac. That is brilliant Rich, wish I could do trim like that!
What everyone said, Rich! Question about silver foil: Is that similar in thickness to gold leaf? I've worked with it years ago. It's a bit tricky to apply.
