FM Yellow Bird
Just rec'd a bargain Yellow 1955 Tbird, MIB. Notice the little porthole windows don't have any glass (palstic) in them, is this normal?
FM or DM?
Charlie - DM made the yellow 55 T-Bird, no portholes in the top (yellow top).
FM made the yellow 56 with portholes without glass (white top).
Hope this helps
56 T-Birds from DM had Plastic Windows in their Port Holes ! MIB - Missing In Box !
Looks like you got RIPPED OFF ! MIB now means Missing In Box ! It used to stand for Mint in Box !
55 T-Birds did not have Port Holes in their TOPs !
The yellow one from Russian Island did not have glass
Sorry, FM Russian Island 1956 Model. CHEEP!!
Here's an Ebay reference to this, bidding starts at .99.
190195795206 Looks like he is blowing out the remainder of his stock.
Charlie its a FM model isnt it? LOL Your not supposed to notice that!
Funny how a $10-$20 Tbird diecast HAVE the porthole glass, and or Vent glass yet FM continues to insult us omitting it even on the newer released Shelby Mustangs. That is one reason I didnt add any of their newer 60s SHelbys. For the price and given they are "precision" models they SHOULD have glass where it is supposed to be, period!!
Charlie- FM and DM
The one you bought is one Russian Island has been selling off for at least a year. It is an LE of 1000. But, there is no "glass" in the porthole. Portholes were only used in the 56-57 model years. They went to the "square birds" in 58. If you find a DM 55, you'll pay about $100 more for it than the 56 but, its a DM so, everything is as it is supposed to be.
