I'm curious if the model you're seeking is 1/24. This model is about 20 years old and it's 1/20. At the same time there was a deluxe 1/18 also made that supposedly had a real gold dragon ornament with cloth upholstery and came with a real fancy display base. It was way too expensive so I opted for the 1/20. Because it is China's first automobile and it was such a favorite of Chairman Mao, I wouldn't be surprised if it was redone in 1/24 and with newer tech and higher parts count. This is the 1/20. It even offers an active coiled suspension The chassis has a "QC Passed" sticker and embossed "Made in China" on one side and "1/20.....1958##### #####" which probably names the car with no vendor name plate.

Hey Rich, thanks for the post. They are available from 2 Chinese ebay sellers at present, here 115849795517 and here 164906543630 both clearly selling them as 1/24. Your post inspired me to dig deeper into the cars history. Fascinating stuff! An example of what I call the social history of the car, or in this case the socio/political history. This site covers it pretty well:

Anyway after all that I've ordered one! I'll post pics when it arrives, thanks again

@geoff-jowett I'd love to see the pics and get jealous. The Chairman would be proud.

That grille reminds me a lot of the 57 Ford T-Bird Grille.

Agree John, I'd also suggest a strong overall similarity to the early 60s UK Ford Consul, which also bears a strong resemblance to the 57 T'Bird grill.
