If the car has a top, I generally display it with the top. I've never really been a fan of convertible's simply from a styling point of view. I've always felt that a car loses a lot of it's look when the top is missing.
My best example of this would be the to top and design of the 57 Oldsmobile. It's that rear split window of the hardtop that makes the car so sharp looking (IMO) and as a convertible that is gone. Now I realize that the mints didn't give us a 57 Olds, but it fits as an example for my reasoning of top up or top down.

mostly off.....so my people have somewhere to sit some tops are so well tailored that leaving them off seems like a waste...

Mostyly 'up'. But, sometimes the interior is so stunning it's 'down'...i.e. - DM '54 Caddy Eldo.

Tops up or down?
All my tops are "down" except for my 1:1 1969 Buick Skylark convertible - white top,dyed white, which hasn't been "down" in years!(looks to sharp "up" - no wrinkles!)

I display top up in the winter and top down in the spring and summer.

I usually do the spring and fall change...
But certain cars look better with their tops on or the tops are particularly well done and others look better with them off, so those stay set the way they look best.
C3 Corvette coupes, now, get the driver T-top off and the passenger left on.

Same reason I like the 63 Corvette Split Window over the same year drop top.
But I'd still take a 67 convertible over the 67 coupe.
It's got to be something unique to the hard top. Boattail Riv. I'll take a coupe. Any other Riv, I'll take the convertible.

It depends....
... some I like better up, some down. I have a few duplicate models so I can display one each way.
