Here one for all of you "deep pocket" guys........ eBay item number: 150277574454
I forgot... what did those Talbot-Lagos sell for originally?
$350.00 for the T-LS & Saoutchik Cadillac. Black T-L
LE of 50 may have been priced higher.
Btw, Richard, we were talking about the Karmann-Ghias not so long ago and yesterday I saw a K-G station wagon on the road, did a google image search to make sure there was such a car, and there it was. Can't remember seeing another one.
Some may love this model and the other in the same family.....
As a static model it is very nice but I amm looking for far more when I am speaking of 1/24 scale for dollar to dollar value.
My taste is shifting more on the upscale 1/18 models from CMC with all the good moving parts we are accustomed but all metal and no plastic.
I will always collect DM outstanding products from the 30'-40' and 50's but the CMC's are more and more attractive and I am wondering if I will not shift to the "nirvana" of precision diecasts as CMC is now
Yes, there is a price to pay.
In excess of 300.00$ a piece.
If they come with one model a year with this kind of perfection, it would be fine for me.
Being more selective with DM offerings and these outstanding CMC street models, I would split my money in these two scales....but also 1/43 for any Buicks.
Roger, did you find a photo of this little sasquatch? I think VW only made them in Cpe & CV
I believe the black LE of 50 was identically priced......
I believe it was done to satisfy those that tried to order the burgundy model but failed to make the 300 cutoff point.
Do you remember the website you googled? I'd like to read about it.....
I googled Karmann Ghia station wagon and didn't get anything definitive.
Howevewr, I did find the Griswald's "woody"

You're looking at it wrong.
It's not a static model, it's miniature automotive art.
Dallas, Richard and Roger...just a FYI on these
At one time, I thought that I could turn some of the diecasts with enough profit that I might be able to keep one of them at no cost. Some cars did well, most cars did not do well for me.
I bought 3 Saoutchik Caddies and 3 of the Talbot's, one of them being the black one.
I sold the Talbot's first and they all brought about $475 each.
Last year, I sold my remaining 2 Saoutchik's and they brought about $565 each.
All sold on Ebay.
It may not bring that much today.
I did keep one Saoutchik for me.
given the vagaries of the secondary diecast market....
with wild flucuations over time, those Motor City models hold up incredibly well. They are just beautiful to look at.
It also makes me wonder why no other company has really tried to tap that eurostreaminer genre.
Signature and Guiloy produced a couple of Delahayes in 1/18 chosing the most pedestrian coachwork they could find, yet the best of the great prewar coachbulders' work has basically gone ignored in spite of their commanding presence at the great vintage auto shows like Pebble Beach.
I don't know if Alan Novak's company made a great profit on those models, but, if nothing else, he left a helluva legacy for which Motor City will be remembered beyond their 1/43 models.
Amen, brother Jim!
I believe the Talbot Lago 1/24 scale from Motor City was originally $500.00. I have the burgandy one which I bought at an estate sale for $200.00 about three years ago.
My mistake, was looking at this site.. mclellansautomotive.com
Front of car looked more like a KG than a VW, or at least a VW beetle. Car was most likely from the `60s.
Jerry...... You done good !!!
