Here's my 58 Edsel and diecast rot

Attached are a few photos of my limited edition Edsel with the rotted hood.  I am getting a new hood from a fellow member Rich Faber

 

and he arranged to get it painted to match for me.  Looking forward to making this a beauty again.

I hope the paint matches up to make this all worth while. It's interesting that only one panel was involved. My Nash Metropolitan virtually crumbled into dust... no saving that little guy.

Rich, that is strange, as I have 2 Nash's one correct and one error version and both are fine.  Apparently it is in the casting at different mixes that make a difference.

@carsman1958 Yeah, it's a mystery. Suddenly every part swelled up and the doors fell off by themselves.  It looked like I dumped the model into an acid bath.

Wow Rich.  That is a shame.  I haven't seen any car this bad.  Maybe you can find a second hand one and replace it.
