In 1986, when the "Information Superhighway" (AKA: the internet) was more of a pot hole filled dirt path, I would always check the Sunday supplement for Franklin Mint's full page ad. When I saw this 1907 Rolls Royce 40/50 HP Silver Ghost. I immediately cut out the coupon and sent in my order. This was the first of their Brass Era models and it didn't disappoint. Certainly, the tech and content increased over the years, but this model's fit and finish was outstanding for its time, so I'm not going to nitpick here. I even dug the raised letter Dunlop tires. Let's just say this was the model that got me hooked. As a footnote, this car, chassis #AX201, was a one off demo model in 1907 and was nicknamed "the Silver Ghost" for both its color and the newly strengthened and balanced engine that gave it a ride as "quiet as a ghost". This car exists today and is valued between $40 and 50 million.

My first FM model. I thought FM always did a great job modelling cars of this era.

me too Pat. I'm pretty sure it was introduced here in Australia in 1987, very quickly after the red Mercedes 500K.My second model, probably 40 years ago!
And so it began...........!! 🤪 We used to get glossy brochures by direct mail. After these 2 I couldn't wait to get the next one.

@100ford2003 I think $109 was for Danbury Mint and $120 was FM's price. I might even have brochures from back then.... somewhere. LOL

Rich, I remember seeing it in the Sunday Parade magazine as well, but it was not a choice for me. Just do not collect to many pre 40's models.
