Wow Pete, that's one of the worse I've seen. Actually this model is extremely notorious for this. I wanted one as well but I've never seen one without issues and wouldn't pluck the money down if I did as it'll probably end up like this eventually. Sad as it would be a great model otherwise.

This is a nasty example of diecast pox, Pete. Further down here there is some discussion on the subject. It's worth while scrolling down there and checking this out.

The condition is brought about when the diecast material - zamac, an alloy is being mixed and becomes contaminated. But the effects of the contaminatilion do not become apparent for some time after the model has been sold new and been in a collection for some time - I don't know what the period of time is, but at some point strange forces reveal this often shocking, but certainly dissapointing degradation.

There is no cure for this problem and apart from what ever value there is in the unaffected parts, engine, wheels and interior, the model becomes instantly worthless.

Some models have a reputation for this problem while for others it appears to be more random.

Some of these affected models appear for sale on-line with sellers descriptions stating the probldm as cracking paint. To a limited extent this is true. However, as we all know or becoming more aware of its really a lot more serious than just cracking paint. Sellers, may not know this and they think the problem can be repaired with a re-paint.
This beleif is incorrect and models affected in this way are a must to avoid.

I hope that you can find a replacement that is free of this disease.

Will have to check mine, haven't opened it in years. All I remember it is a low number and was ok.

WOW ... That's really bad !!! ... so here's my question

Did the seller not have any pictures posted on his listing?

Seriously ... those pix should have easily showed that damage

That is NOT just a lil paint rash

That is real deal ... broken

I'm very sorry ... I feel your pain .... my Green Edsers Bugatti is that exact same condition

Well, on the plus side, the chassis and the interior look great!

Absolutely, Pete. You don't need to get bitten by the same dog twice.

WOW! That is very sad to see. Unfortunately I have this one packed away too.

I bought it and displayed for a very short time before it got packed again. I'm not sure what I am going to find. Yikes!
