If you've never heard of Michael Smith, you will......
If you don't already subscribe to Toy Cars & Models magazine, do your self a big favor and pick up the April issue. Turn to page 50 and there you will see what we have all been waiting for. The ultimate showcase for the cars. I won't spoil the article for you but I will tell you that you will be looking at the most realistic dioramas that you will ever see in your life. Michael is truly an artist. Once you have finished the article go to wcpdi.com and see more of Michael's passion. He is a gift to all of us. Thanks Michael, keep creating and I hope I get to meat you some day to shake your hand. By the way, the magazine's pretty interesting also. Think I'll subscribe.
Saw that one Jim......an incredible artist......he is in Mass., not far from me in NH.
Jim, I'll ask again..is Michael/West Coast considering offering some dioramas-hope so!!
Clark, I really can't say because I don't know..............
what kind of converastions Brian has had with Michael. I can tell you though, I would beg and borrow to buy as many as he could produce. I think the new car showroom and used car lot would be a great place to start. As a guy who grew up in the mid-west in a house that was built in the 20's-30's I would like to see a garage complete with the old pool hall green light on the outside over the door with all the stuff that dad used to keep in the garage. How cool would that be? What kind of buildings would you like? What do you think?
..how about a " Drive-in Theatre "..some period figures "/signs " of the times", eh!!
..pop machines, weight scales, store fronts wth '50's " period pricing
Clark, what a great idea,..................................................
Make the screen adaptable so you could mount a tiny TV in the back. Then at night just tell the wife you're going up stairs to watch a little TV. You got the whole collection right there in front of you and it's all lit by the light of the drive-in theater. Could it get any better? Of coarse for those who don't "live large", it could be a logistical nightmare. Guess I could throw out the couch. Great idea though if you have the space. Great idea.
Jim, sounds great! Many of us, though, don't get the magazine. Can you post the pic?
I just checked out his dioramas on the WCPD website, and they're awesome.
It's too bad, though, that we're offered all of that eye candy on a retail website but can't buy the dioramas. I appreciate the photos for sure, but you apparently can't buy any of them. These dioramas are by far the nicest I have ever seen. I, for one, would buy more than one. Sure beats just placing my diecast in a nice (but plain) mirrored curio cabinet. So I do hope that WCPD (or someone) will soon be selling these dioramas retail.
Look at the " spreads" those crazed "train modellers"put on! Maybe we can compete!!
..Bob..see you at the drive in-the barber shop-the malt shop-the beer store???
..the garage..the car dealer....c'mon Michael/ Precision Diecast, we dare you!!
