I believe I’m going to be in the minority here, but I love the ‘53 thru ‘55 Vette. The sixes were under performers for sure, but to me the design and overall look was easily the coolest car of that era. I’d personally opt for the ‘55 in V8 mode but the first issue is an Icon. By the way, your photo qualifies as an icon to me!
+1 on the pic ! Vette is washed ‘n waxed, it’s just about sunrise so we’re gonna get in and go for a long relaxing Saturday drive. The picnic basket (anyone recall those?) is packed with fried chicken and potato salad so we’ll see ya later.

Remember the picnic basket? Oh my Steve! I kept a picnic basket in the back of my new MGB. It was a 1967 that I bought new in 1968 when I got out of the Army. My fiancee
and I visited many state parks in that car. The basket always housed a plaid picnic blanket with matching napkins. It routinely housed a bottle of wine, fruit, cheese and a French bread. Once in a while I'd 'slum it' as the popular, back then saying went, and add a couple cans of beer for me.
That very same picnic blanket resides in the back of our SUV and the basket with accessories, in the basement ready to be pressed into use for the Smokies, in a minute's notice.
Wow Galen, that's a money shot, it is amazing. Thank you.🤑
Yes, a great shot indeed. Early Corvettes didn't get me hooked until the '56. A neighborhood butcher shop owner bought a new Venetian Red with Shoreline Beige coves '56. I was hooked on Corvettes ever since.

Jeez Tony we sure had some great times didn’t we? I’m amazed how I can see a pic from or through someone else’s eyes and a multitude of memories coming flooding back. I’m glad that I lived and grew up where life was slower paced.
Tony your thoughts bring back memories of my days in the late fifties in my 56 Austin Healey. I was dating a gal who was in nursing school and we were going to the spring formal. My mother said that should put the top up so my date's hair wouldn't get messed up. Now if you know anything about the early Healey's tops, they are not easy to put up because you first have to put up the frame work and then stretch the fabric over it and snap it down. When I arrived at my dates' parents home, they wanted to take pictures of us next to the car. When we were ready to leave she didn't fit in the car with the top up so off it came. The next morning my mom asked how the evening went and did we have fun... my reply was that I had fun but my dates hair got messed up.

Priceless!! Thanks Bob!
@bob-jackman Well Bob, at least you had a believable reason for why her hair was messed up when she returned home.......
