Anytime I pulled my mail out of the box and saw Danbury Mint, I got a little tickle of excitement in my stomach. It was always the first piece of mail I'd open. Seeing what was inside the envelope was almost like Christmas morning, hurrying with anticipation to see what car they would be revealing. This particular time, I swear my socks were almost knocked off!
Looking at the brochure, I immediately said to myself, "How do they keep doing it?". The car in the photos was positively unbelievable! I'll be honest, I'd never recalled ever seeing a '47 BUICK ROADMASTER ESTATE WAGON in my life, but there was no doubt that I had to have this in my collection. Of course, the call to Danbury was put it.
When the model arrived, the excitement I'd had with seeing the car in the brochure was even more of a rush. Not really being a station wagon fan, but having my mindset adjusted with Danbury's previous '53 Buick Station Wagons, seeing the incredible '47 edition, cemented in my mind that I was a fool to not like wagons.
The model has more features and moving parts than a new-born baby, and the replication is so perfect, if you didn't know better you'd think they were able to shrink the real car. Seriously, of the several station wagons that Danbury gave us, this one is the Crown Jewel.
REAL '47 BUICK ROADMASTER ESTATE WAGON Fact:
It was Buick's most expensive car for 1947. Buyers had to empty their pocket books to the tune of $3,249.

Love your comments George. You captured my exact feelings when I received this brochure. I wonder who called DM first, you or I?
This is a fabulous model, I know I ordered it pretty quick as well. I just couldn't miss out on this one.
Buick's '47 Wagon was very special back then and is today too. I've seen quite a few photos of them but I've only seen one in person a few years ago.
