Any mail day is a good mail day when I received a brochure or flyer from one of the mints.  DANBURY MINT'S were especially exciting for me.  On this particular day I was all giggly at seeing another version of my favorite Fifties Chevrolet, the 1958 IMPALA SPORT COUPE!

I've always thought General Motors grabbed the spotlight with it's complete overhaul of the previous years of Tri-Chevy's.  And like the IMPALA name, the styling for '58 was completely NEW from bumper to bumper, top to bottom.  The rear seemingly inverted tail-fins with the tail-lights appearing to be inserted perfectly fitted in to them was just an appealing look.  I'm not normally fond of Continental Kits, but do admit that on some cars they seemed to enhance the attractiveness of the car, and this Chevy was one of them.

The two-tone color scheme of Sierra Gold and Arctic White gleamed in any type of weather or setting.  Though it would have looked grand even in one color, the stylish roof wore the White almost like a crown.  This flyer teased of an exciting model and the actual car didn't disappoint.  As with many diecast replica's, minor flaws can be detected, but Danbury Mint certainly deserves Five-Stars for their '58 Chevy's.

This 58 Impala along with all of those produced by DM were must haves for me. I owned a 1/1 hardtop with a continental kit, skirts and dual rear antennas. My car was white with a turquoise, silver and black tri tone interior and had the 348 four barrel motor with power glide transmission. When the 58 first came out, people either loved them or hated them...I thought they were absolutely beautiful and as the years have passed they have become more popular than when they were new, this one year body style was shared with the Pontiac and if you look at the prices these two bring today you will see their popularity continues to grow. This example is my favorite of all of the versions DM made.

An excellent offering from DM. I'm very pleased to have this one as well. I wasted no time in ordering it when announced.

@bob-jackman, WOW!  When you were describing your 1.1 White Impala, you had me wishing Danbury would have made one just like yours.  I totally agree with you about the one-year body style being one of Chevy's best ever.  I think it was Chevy's winner for the decade in styling.
