I've always loved the '58 Chevy's! Back in the early 1990's an attorney in the bank building I worked at loved '58 Chevy's! And in fact, this attorney owned a REAL '58 Chevy Impala (Turquoise) Convertible. During nice summer days, he'd drive it to work and that incredible machine would be parked outside my 2nd floor window in the employee parking lot. Damn, that car was gorgeous!
Imagine my excitement when the brochure below arrived in my mailbox! And this wasn't just a brochure, it was practically a poster. If folded three times and when opened it measures 18.5 inches by 16.5 inches! I think it's the biggest brochure I'd ever received from DANBURY MINT.
But before being awed by the brochure size, I literally gasped for air as I saw the 1958 CHEVROLET IMPALA IMPALA CONVERTIBLE in, you guessed it...TURQUOISE! This was the attorney's car in 1:24 scale diecast! I mean, it was HIS car in replica! I ordered TWO right away! I just had to assure that the attorney was going to have one of his own that was just like HIS car. When the models arrived, I couldn't wait to bring HIS to work. If ever you wanted to see an adult male almost cry from jubilation, you should have seen his face when he saw the model. He offered to pay me for it, but I refused. I told him that he had teased me enough times with his REAL '58 parked outside my office window, that I felt this was my way of repaying him.
This car was DANBURY MINT'S first 1958 CHEVROLET IMPALA CONVERTIBLE and it remains my favorite of any convertible in my collection. Whenever I look at it, I flashback to those work days and seeing that REAL one in the parking lot and the excitement that I had not only adding it to my collection, but the joy the attorney showed when he was given his. We remained old car buddies until 2010 when he sadly passed away from Cancer.
This model oozes with memories of a time when cars were cars! A time when cars offered excitement and not just transportation. The model echo's those sentiments.

One of my earliest models, and also still a big favorite. The color is perfect for the style of the first Impala, and oh-boy that interior. Nice.

This was my second DM 1:24 acquisition back in the 1990s. Gr8 color. Although I don't like skirts and cont. kits, I don't mind them too much on this one. Can't remember if I still have the brochure. It's probably in the box.
@al_dorado, you mention you don't care for the skirts and continental kit. Generally, I'm not a fan of them either on cars, but for some reason I've always thought they accented the '58 Chevy's better than any other car they are on. For the continental kit, I think it's the taillight and curbed rear fenders that seem to wear the kit well.
