I have to admit that no car ever intrigued me more than the 1948 TUCKER. So when I received this notice of a diecast model being released by FRANKLIN MINT, it was not only great mail, but mail about an interesting car. I don't ever recall seeing a REAL TUCKER as a kid growing up and it wasn't until adulthood that I'd heard of this obscure and unique automobile.
When the TUCKER movie came out I not only saw it once, but two more times after that. I also purchased the fascinating book by Philip S. Egan, DESIGN and DESTINY: the MAKING OF THE TUCKER AUTOMOBILE.
This ORIGINAL BLUE of PRESTON TUCKER'S "Ahead of its time" car was a MUST HAVE in my collection. And to my delight, Franklin Mint also gave us two repaints of the model and later Danbury Mint gave us their version as well.
This car is history and my collection had to have it. And I do!

I share your fascination with the Tucker as we discussed before. It is one of the most unique cars of our modern time.
And just so you know, FM gave us three repaints for 4 in total. The Waltz Blue in 1992, the Anniversary Gold in 1997, the Dark Green in 2004 and the Maroon in 2007. And of course, the fabulous prototype from DM.

John, I wasn't aware of a MAROON repaint from Franklin Mint. I've got the Blue, Gold, and Green versions and the Maroon "Torpedo" from Danbury. Man, you wrecked my night!

I too was not aware of the Green and Maroon FM. I have the other 3. Just doing a quick check these two models are bringing a hefty price on Ebay. Sorry that I missed them when they came out.
By the way George, I enjoy your offerings everyday. You tell quite a story about each car. It is refreshing!

Thank you John! I try to add some personal experience and insight in my posts since I've come to the NEW Forums. Your saying your saying you enjoy the stories is good to hear, and I hope most others enjoy them too.

George. I read them everyday. Helps me remember the cars that I do not have on display yet. But hopefully soon I will get the vast majority of my collection out and on display and then I will really enjoy them. Like you I have all the mailers from DM/FM stored away. I even went to the extent to download the review by Tony to put in books with my certificates and brochures. Have them all in order by year and manufacturer. I think that it is seven 3" binders holding all the documents.
@carsman1958, impressive John! I have all my brochures, flyers, model papers and titles in Accordion Files by model years. All are in sheet protectors.
