Opening the envelope with this Brochure in it, put another smile on face because it was yet ANOTHER DeSoto.  And this one wasn't just any DeSoto, it was the "Pace Car for the 40th Annual Indianapolis 500 Memorial Day Race".  This event each year draws hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the country and it was a big deal when an automobile company had "their car" as the Official Pace Car.

Model year 1956 was a knockout year for DeSoto and one of America's favorite cars, with it being in the national spotlight, it certainly was a plus for marketing of the...

For DANBURY MINT this was their 4th '56 DeSoto and the 3rd of which was a Convertible.  It is arguably the best and most beautiful of those Convertible's.  Having the other three models in my collection, there just wasn't any way that this was not going to join them.  There are no flaws on this model.  It's a GREAT MODEL!

Just looking back at another incredible Danbury Mint model.  Hard to believe it's been over a decade since our dose of diecast on a regular basis from Danbury Mint and the others, came to an abrupt halt.  We were left with wanting so many more models of our favorite cars and we were forced cold turkey to accept that new  1:24 scale diecast was no more.  Now we can only flashback and remember how great that time in collecting was.

@georgeschire Well said George. I recently received a new in the box DM GMC pickup from Mint Models and unpacking the model brought back memories and the excitement we once knew.
