Coming home for lunch back on November 29, 2002 and bringing my mail, seeing this brochure from Danbury Mint had me rush to the phone immediately.  I'd always liked the '57 Chrysler's and to finally have a New Yorker in diecast had me feeling like it was Christmas!

When I received the car, it was beautiful then, and still is today.  Yes, it has some flaws, primarily noticeable is the high fender stance in the rear.  As distracting as that is, I've overlooked it because the overall car replication is so darn nice...at least in my opinion.  I love the colors, as they so represent 1957 and on this model, they're a knock-out.

Some REAL '57 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER CONVERTIBLE Facts:

Chrysler's lowest priced convertible this year was the New Yorker, which cost a healthy $4,638 in its base form.  The convertible's used completely different side-trim than what was presented on Chrysler's Hardtop models.  The New Yorker Convertible weighed 4,365 pounds and had a production run of 1,049 cars, making them relatively rare today.

I gotta get one of those mailers.  The all-new and fabulous 1957 Forward Look Chrysler is one of my favorite cars of the 1950s.  The delightful & delovely DeSoto comes in a close second.  Those particular Flight Sweep fins are, to me, the most graceful of the era.  This DM model is an good representation and a fave in my collection.  I managed to find one (previously owned) where the rear is not so raked.  I really luv the Indian Turquoise color.  I also have the Regatta Blue coupe.

@al_dorado

It's one of my favorites too.  I have all of the DM and FM '57 and '58 Chryslers and they are all favorites.  And I agree with you the swept fins!
