On the envelope it read "Limited Edition '56 Ford", and my immediate thought was that it was a repaint of Danbury's '56 Ford Fairlane Convertible.  Now this would have been fine with me, as I was always in to repaints, and I'd have ordered it.  However to my surprise, this was not another repaint, but rather a car totally unexpected.

Both Danbury and Franklin had given us a multitude of '55 Crown Victoria's, but neither had produced the beautiful regular Hardtop version.  So here it was, another Ford, but it was NEW because we hadn't had this one yet.

Danbury Mint's "Limited Edition" 1956 FORD FAIRLANE VICTORIA

It was a limited in production to just 5000 cars, and when mine arrived it was number 531.  I never got in to what number I received in a limited edition run, but I did always take note of what the number was.  My number on this one 531.  Lower numbers always seemed to have more significance in making the car seem a little more special.  This Hardtop in Crayola Crayon "Mandarin Orange and Colonial White" are colors that place this car right back to 1956.  We had a neighbor who lived down the block from us that had the real car when I was a kid, and I remember it being the only orange car I'd ever seen.  This is a fantastic model and having it be only a "Victoria" makes it even more "Limited" for me.

As a side note, what I liked best about the '56 Ford's over the '55's, was the dashboard.  It instrument panel on the '56 was much improved and looked more modern to my eyes.

What a beautiful model of a beautiful car!! And although I love the Crown Victoria, the simplicity of the Fairlane Vicky's top, is more appealing to me.

@perrone1, you summed up my thoughts better than I did.

I always liked the '55 styling a lot, but liked the '56's better, as it seemed to perfect what '55 started the year before.  And for what it's worth, I liked the '56 better than the '57, and liked the '58 and '59 better than the '57 too.

A superb model for sure. I love the colors on this one, mine is #133.

I am terribly fond of the style of the Ford from 1955-1959, each one is unique in it's own way. But for me, the 1957 is my favorite.

LOL, you just had to have a lower number than mine, didn't you John?  Smile I agree with you about the Ford's from '55 to '59 each being unique in their own way.  They were and that's what makes them special.  And actually, it continued on in to the sixties, as from '60 to '65 every year had a distinctive look of its own.
