Have not seen one of these 1937-40 Duesenberg towncar cars by FM with a hood ornament though the 1to 1 shows one and this model actually has a notch in the chrome strip for one to be fitted.

not sure if any of our members can answer this question but thought it doesn’t hurt to ask anyways…

Larry the hood ornament is the standard Duesenberg V shaped and does fit in the notch. I don't know how to send pictures...perhaps someone might send one.

Bob I understand the standard Duesenberg emblem normally is attached to a exposed radiator cap ,this car evidently has its cap under the hood like other cars of the times. So I’m thinking it must have had a different specific type of mount…

A photo of the actual car showing the emblem.

another interesting question is I’m wondering if like some cars the emblem was considered similar to a mascot and had a specific name?…..probably not….lol

Edit: ok found a photo of the FM 1/24 model sporting the hood ornament …..

I have the model from FM and it does have the Duesenberg hood ornament. Most of those out there for sale have long ago lost their ornaments,

@1961linc

sadly this seems to be the case,was wondering if the hood ornament was not permanently mounted when these models were shipped,maybe being separate in the box to protect it

Thanks Harrison! Much appreciated!……suprising it’s a kinda coarse stamping isn’t it.

one would have thought it have a bit more detail to it….
