"The Good Humor man is coming!!!" Hopefully my mother would give me the extra 5 cents to get my favorite bar... that premium "Toasted Almond" bar that I would savor in an orgasmic state. I would first pull the wooden stick out so the last bites wouldn't taste like wood.
This Danbury Mint 1953 Chevy 3100 (1/2 ton) "Advance Design" modified open cab pickup truck toting a freezer box is such a little gem not just for the nostalgia. For the time it was released, the build quality and parts count is extraordinary and offering an amazing amount of 'finger fun'. Those memorable, chromed industrial grade hinges on the different access doors are perfectly replicated. The 4 mounted scalloped metal bells will 'ring' when the cord is pulled. The windshield wipers are a 3 piece assembly (unheard of for that time... or any time). The plumbed and wired 112 HP 235 cid 6 offered 3X the horsepower of its Divco contemporary. The Chevrolet hood badge is 3-D and delicately accented in proper red and blue. Nostalgia (for us old farts) aside, this little model is an absolute model. I lucked out on eBay. I purchased it last week and was cringing over what condition it would be in. What I received was a dust free immaculate MIB example and I couldn't be happier!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!! Great pics of a nostalgic past - but, hey! Who ya callin' an old fart?? Yeah, yeah, I know - if the shoe fits!!
Rich: Great pic's on a vehicle that has eluded me. I have tried a number of times getting one on Ebay, but at the list minute got outbid. I will keep trying though, love this model.
@kevins LOVE your display Kevin - with the bicycle, menu and Good Humor sign!!
well, well they do indeed! I just rang the bells on mine! Great review and pics Rich, amazing closeups.
And +1 to Tonys comments on Kevins display, looks great
Rich’s photos are fantastic, they’re going into my favorites folder. With my display, I’m trying my best to transport myself into my favorite era, mid fifties, early sixties. I have a very small collection displayed on a simple cabinet that I made, and I like to fill in empty spaces with little treasures that make me happy. Thanks for your post Rich, and thanks to everyone’s positive comments.
@perrone1 We used to chase the truck on our bikes! LOL
Great pics all, of a very cool vehicle. I too remember chasing our ice cream truck on my bike. Great memories indeed.💯👍😎
