I hear some here talking about the burdens of sorting and storing their collections, and I'm sorry, I just don't understand that.  Having those feelings tell me that you are not enjoying your collection.

Buy them, display them, and enjoy them, that's what it's all about.  If that isn't the situation, then why buy them in the first place?  That's a legit question!

I have ALL of my cars displayed!  My theory has always been, that if I can't display them, I'm wasting money buying them.  I have a friend who has hundreds of cars ALL in their boxes piled along a wall in his basement.  Again, I'm sorry, but why store boxes if you're not going to display the cars and enjoy looking at them.

I also hear people say, "I don't have the room to display them, or I've run out of room".  Again, I don't understand why they keep buying them.  Perhaps, they get their joy out of just knowing they have the cars even if they remain in their boxes, but I just can't make sense of that logic.

Buying anything and not using it and enjoying it, is nutty thinking to me.  And seriously, when I die, whether it be today, next week, next month, next year...whenever, then my time enjoying and displaying my cars has ended.  What happens to them is of no concern to me.

There is an old saying, "Stop and smell the roses", which is telling us to just enjoy the things in life that are important to us.  Going to my car room, sitting and just looking at my cars is extremely relaxing and rewarding to me.  Then the joy I get out of moving cars around and rearranging them is also a great stress reliever.

This friends for me, is "Stopping to smell the roses".  Smile

Some collectors love having all their models out on display....some collectors rotate them from storage to display....some collectors like that they can go and dig out models they have tucked away to "rediscover" them.....some are happier with "the hunt" aspect of collecting.....some buy and sell their models for fun and profit.....some simply like to hoard them.  We're all different and it's all good as long as it's financially balanced and puts a smile on the collector's face.

Regarding the on-going question of "what happens to my (our) collection(s) when we pass on", I thought a comment made yesterday in my morning Men's Bible Study group, the Pastor said, "Possessions are earthly things...Baggage that can't be taken to Heaven".  It was timely to this topic on car Forum.

@georgeschire  Wait....they don't accommodate model collections in heaven?  Next you're going to tell me there's no ebay in heaven.  That's it....I'm living forever!

Laughing Out Loud Well if you are able to live forever, those of us who don't, will never know how it goes for you.  So, wishing you luck.

@geoff-jowett

Hi Geoff, thanks for asking, the Delahaye build is on hold for months already, I completed several other minor projects. Have family visiting from Bulgaria, just returned from a 2-week trip from the state of Washington and Yellowstone, working in the hospital next week, trading stocks when not at work, life goes on... Building model cars is on the back burner for sometime. Will post few pictures from WA and Yellowstone...
