My First "Screwing" on eBay.

I guess it is bound to happen. Bid on and won an FM 32 Ford Hi Boy. New in
the box. Picture showed a perfect car. Pic below shows how it arrived. It cam
in the original white outer and inner foam shell. However when I picked the
box up I could feel the model moving inside. It did a whole lot of moving.
When I contacted the seller and told him he flatly stated...not my fault. I even
asked if he would refund half of my money and "share the Loss". No way.
Both filed with the resolution center and they sided with him in about 15
minutes. I have in turn appealed.
If anyone has a picture of the inside of the correct foam box or can tell me if
there is one of those black plastic "stands" that many boxes have in the
correct box I would be greatly appreciative. The one I received did not!

If not, the car will be another "Barn Find" for me to work on.

Sorry to see it, Don. I don't know about the proper packaging for this model. Does it look.......

at least look like all the parts are there for the restoration?

Don, a couple of questions...

Did you send eBay a picture? Was it insured? What was the basis of the sellers "complaint" to eBay? They usually side with the buyer and I don't understand this.

By all means leave him a neg. Oh, btw, who was the seller? If you don't want to post it, send it to me (jwr1234 AT aol.com).

The seller was 96gs.

Here is the Classics Illustrated edition of the story. Item was shipped to my
mother in law n CA> due to an error on my part. As soon as I found this
out...within 2 days of the end of the auction I emailed the seller to give him a
heads up as to why I might be late in giving feedback. The item was forwarded,
unopened, as soon as she got it. He says his insurance only covered it to CA<
and so it is not his fault.

I filed a case and wrote the details and told eBay I had pictures. Will have to wait
and see what they do.

Since 1999 this seller has...

42 Negative
13 Neutral
----------------
55 Total

There's a website that can get into the feedback area of eBay and find the negs and neutrals:
http://www.toolhaus.org

Just plug in the seller/buyer's ID. Great help. Sometimes it is "blocked", so just try again.

Don - I have had odd feelings toward this seller after I watched how he did business. I haven't paid attention lately but he seemed to me to be one of those guys that would take his mom to the cleaners if he could. No proof ..... just a feeling.

Based on the way he spoke with me, Mom is already on on a hanger and covered with plastic.

Don I bid once and something told me to Quit while I was ahead. Sorry to boost your cost!

I just had bad feelings so I did not persue it anymore. My seat of the pants still works.

Don, I have that model and the original box. I'll dig it out, take some pics for you, and get that out to you in the next few days if you'll email me with your address. Mine is whiskeycharlie "at" brightok.net

That's a shame! When I used to sell alot i remember that sellers ID

I recall he did get negatives on a regular basis! I've been selling and buying on Ebay and have over 500 feedbacks and I have ZERO neutral and ZERO negatives as a seller or buyer!

The seller is a Jack A**, he has been doing this to people for years...

Paypal rules clearly state that the seller is responsible to insure the item whether you ask or not, whether you pay for it or not. Completely up to the seller. Your claim is that you did not receive the model in the condition as stated. You can file the claim with Paypal and/or you can file a chargeback with your credit card company if that is how you paid (only use a credit card specifically for this purpose). It really doesn't matter what the seller says after the fact, it's what he says in the auction and the photo's he shows. Don't base your issue on whether the styrofoam was correct or the little base, the fact is, you didn't receive the item in the condition that was shown or stated in the listing. You will be reimbursed one way or another.
