@geoff-jowett Helms Bakery was located in Culver City CA and delivered bread and baked goods via Helms coaches throughout the Los Angeles suburbs until 1969 when the company ceased operations. I remember the coach coming thru my Gardena neighborhood daily around 4:00pm driven by Fred, a Scotsman in his fifties, pulling on that familiar whistle letting housewives and kids know he was on the street and open for business. The drawers inside were loaded with bread, donuts, crescent donuts, baked goods, and all kinds of nickel candies, and seemed to be five feet deep as Fred slid them open. With his Scottish accent and his gift of flattery he did quite well with the neighborhood moms. I remember him telling my mother that she looked so young he just couldn’t believe she had three school-age children. Fond memories of the Helmsman!
@geoff-jowett Love that very cool Divco Geoff, I’d say it fits right in this post.
Love both delivery trucks...thanks Geoff!

@pete-rovero nice story Pete. Kevin, John, I reckon I'd add the Helms truck if I could find one at a reasonable price. A real unique piece.
@geoff-jowett Geoff, although I never saw a Helms Bakery Twin Van in person, I liked the unique style and added it to my collection years ago.
