Opinions? Do you all see DM, at some point, wanting higher dollars for full sized cars vs. all the compacts that we've been getting? Mustangs, Chevelles, Camaros, Cudas, etc. vs. Galaxie 500's, full sized Buicks, Rivieras, Tornadoes, full size Station Wagons, etc. This will be interesting to watch.

I really don't, Jim. I would guess the cost of materials for a diecast is really a small fraction of the total, with labor, packaging and administrative costs being much more significant. Having said that, I think that diecast manufacturers will be challenged to hold the line on price with rising costs but I don't imagine we'll see a differentiation based on the size of the image.

I don't think so either. Case in point is the tanks we're getting from the 50's.

Hi Jim! No! I don't see any change in the current pricing policies. BUT, I do believe we will see a in 2012, across the line.

Paul, I think the price increases will be related to what's going on in China, increasing labor costs for one, rather than competition. DM hasn't had any REAL competition in awhile..........

I do some work with zinc die cast parts and zinc, the main ingredient costs well under $1.00 per pound. Die cast tooling has become progressively less expensive and much more refined as computers drive more of the work. We see that reflected in the quality of the models. They still have to take all those parts and put 'em together one piece at a time though, and I expect that's where actual cost increases are likely to originate..
