PCH too much road for Enzo............................................
On the news this morning was a story about an Enzo Ferrari drag racing a Mercedes SLR on Pacific Coast Highway. The driver of the Ferrari lost control and ran up an embankment and hit a poll. The report said the Ferrari had reached a speed of 200 MPH. He hit the poll so hard it knocked the engine out of the back of the car. Both air bags deployed and there was blood on the drivers side air bag but the driver fled the scene on foot and they are still looking for him and the SLR. The Ferrari can now probably be bought for about 35cents. It's dog meat. Make that 398 Ferrarie Enzo's known to still exist
Lots of exotics end up toast and there is a web site full of them
DONT go here if you do not want to see the sad remains of hundreds of exotics. LOTS of Ferraris and Corvettes plus many others.
More money than brains
He is probably now driving a Porsche or a Lamborghini looking for that Mercedes, LOL
Jim, must be a very safe car to have a wreck at 200 and the driver survived to run away.
USAF 1958-62
that's a cool site
I stumbled onto that one a few months ago. Some of the narratives that describe how the accidents occurred are hilarious and prove once again that money and brains do not necessarily go together.
It is Dan
Ferrari's are designed from the track so that the engine will separate from the tub (passenger compartment) and allow the roll cage to do it's thing during a accident. By the way the 200 MPH depends on which channel you watched reporting the accident. I also saw 100MPH and 120MPH. Still pretty fast and definitely a waste of $1,000,000
I just saw it in the news and they said the Ferrari had 2 people
Supposedly the passenger was found dead and the driver fled the scene. According to this news channel the Ferrari was clocked at 160 mph. They say Police didn't want to reveal the dead's person sex or name. Now, thats not nice....
Channel 7 (KABC) reports....
.... that the owner of the Enzo CLAIMS another person was driving the car and that after the accident, fled the scene. Further, the Enzo owner also said he only knew him as "the German." KABC News also reported that the Enzo was alledgedly racing another car, but that the other participant was unidentified. The Enzo was said to be doing 120 MPH.
Exotics in So Cal like Enzo's are as common as Chevy's in Toledo, Ohio. I see them racing against each other all the time. Actually, I was recently toying with a F40, and a XJ220 with my mildly hopped up C5. Just so you know, it was no contest as I was..... humiliated by both.
Oh... according to the film I saw, that Enzo is TOAST!
Ufff! The F40, not even the new C6 could had held up against one of these beasts
