PIC - Man, I am on a roll. . .
Next up on the work table, 1972 Caddy Eldorado. This was just painted the light metallic green and will have a white vinyl top. I'm not sure about the interior. Either the same shade of green or white with green accents.
plastic or diecast
Is that a plastic promo or is it a diecast? Either way I am liking your paint work.
Douglas - NICE !!! I think you should go with the white interior or putting it another way - Stick with the stock offering whatever that would have been:D
Douglas, is the '72 Eldo available as a cnvrt?
That sure looks nice!
It was. I was thinking of making a cv. What to use as a hard parade boot?
Doug, why not try fabricating out of plastic sheet? You can easily find the ...
... correct thickness then sand the edges to get that tapered look. After you paint it it'll look great,
Doug, I meant as a 1/24 model. My boss has a '72 cnvrt.
And it has the parade boot so I could send pics and dimensions if you'd like.
Oh. No, a 1/25 was not made of the cv. I think I'll do this one as a ht in the same color combo as DM's 57 Caddy ht then I may buy another 70's Eld and cut off the top and make a cv.
Doug, I think you should consider accepting commissions! There's a big appetite for some of the images you've been building. You are known and trusted on the various diecast websites, so there's an opportunity for you to launch a new business here.
I know that you're building these because of your love for models and a desire to build your personal collection . . . but there are many of us who would be interested in having you supplement our model collections.
I'm just sayin'.
Hmmm, I had thought about it. What would guys pay for something like the model building/detailing that I do?
Doug, realizing that this is time-intensive work, I'd be willing to pay something in the $300 range + plus the original cost of the resin kit.
Guys like Paul Hettick have made a cottage industry of this sort of work. If you did not have commissions lined up, many of these models attract significant interest on Ebay.
Thank you for the compliment Brian but I am no Paul Hettick.
Paul is in a class all his own.
And, so, you would sell at a lower price point. Paul's are often $400 or more.
I don't know. It really is alot of tedious work especially doing the Bare metal foil.
I just ordered my first resin model, the 76 Cadillac Coupe Deville. I have to build that one and see how well it turns out.
