PICS (1:24) Although the list of accessories was very short when George bought his new tractor..
there was one that he thought that he really couldn't do without..........
TELL US MORE ABOUT THIS AWESOME MODEL, PLEASE.
Thanx for your interest, Don. This and a Showman's Engine were marketed by a company called.........
Midsummer Models, Ltd., in Cambridge, UK. I believe they're out of production, but I could be wrong about that. I also don't believe there are any distributors for them here in the U.S.
Here's a copy and paste link to their website......
http://www.midsummermodels.co.uk/
and the same to one currently available on eBay, although it, too, is located in the UK..........
Mine was a recent acquisition; a very generous gift from my brother Ron, who bought it direct from Britain.
I assume that you didn't mean the Yat Ming Ahrens Fox! :))
Very nice Gene.......my wife collects tractors too (farmer's daughter)
Thanx, Paul. Technically speaking, this one's a road locomotive (note the solid rubber tires)....
and it's the first of it's kind in my collection. So the Mrs. collects tractors AND likes trucks. Sounds like a VERY cool girl! 😉 I'll bet she was driving the farm truck around the fields when she was 14!
The Mints have done some GREAT 1/16th agricultural pieces over the years and I know that there's TONS more out there that scale from other manufacturers, too.
Gene, the Midsummer Models website and contact page still appear operational.
I have emailed them asking if their Showmans Engines are available for purchase in the US. I will report back.
Thanx, Paul. The seller in the eBay auction link that I posted above also has a Showman's Engine....
for sale among his other items.
What unique and fascinating models! What's the purpose of the umbilical?
Thanx, Marlowe. It's a little different from usual fare, hey? This is a steam tractor and the hose..
is connected to the water tank. While the connection point at the Ahrens Fox end isn't 100% accurate, I figured that I'd try to create the illusion of that 1000 g.p.m. piston pump on the fire truck filling it up. And, of course, it doesn't hurt to have a fire engine handy any time you want to run one of these monsters, either! :))
