I recently came across my old diecast model kit replica of the 1930 dual-cowl Packard phaeton, or at least what still exists of it. I built this Hubley 1/22 kit when I was about 8 or 9 but I was too inexperienced to paint it. I later built and painted Hubley's 1/18 diecast model of the Duesenburg and I still have that one.
The Packard was really nicely done and featured many detailed parts as well as a detailed straight-8 engined and full chassis, etc. My Dad said he learned to drive on a car like this one, so between turning the big manual steering wheel and shifting the gears, anything else was probably a cinch !
These are some quick phone-camera snaps of it as it is presently.
You amaze me having so many childhood "survivors" Mike. If this one doesn't have its missing parts it could still make a great diorama.
Very cool.... great to still have.
