How a couple more from 30yrs before.

There never was an '83 Corvette.
GM just did not sell any Corvette's in 1983 except due to late they were sold as 84's
The One 83 is in the museum in Boling Green and it doesn't have the third stop light (CHMSL) and different wheels that were never produced.
Does this FM-Prototype look like the '83 in BG?
FM did an OK job on this one.
The colors, the wheels, the interior are all pretty good. The disappointment is they did not correct the windshield rake or shape from the '84 & '86 versions. If you display this low and look at it from above it's OK but if you view it straight on in your display, the windshield error sticks out like a sore thumb!
I had mistakenly assumed that, given the amount of time between those earlier cars and the '83, FM would have addressed this. Not so!
Even so, I am glad I got one when they were issued. It's the only decent representation of a Corvette that wasn't........
The ’83 in BG has different wheels, otherwise it looks the same as the FM prototype.

Never been attracted to the look of any Corvette. Not sure why, but I've never been able to understand the appeal the car has had through the decades. I know I'm in the huge minority on this, so obviously I've missed something that most others haven't.

I do not know of ANY car that appeals to everyone....
..Corvette included. It wasn't ever intended for everyone. It is a sports car, pure and simple. It isn't the most luxurious, certainly not practical for most automotive needs but have you ever driven one? If so you cannot deny its 'fun' potential. It handles and corners and accelerates wonderfully and although I've outgrown all of mine it will always have a fondness in my heart as an American classic icon.
Actually Tony, yes, I have driven a Corvette. Though it was a long time ago.
Back in 1971 to be exact, sadly it did nothing for me. And I was only 20 years at the time. I felt like I was in a slightly bigger Go-Cart and had a heck of time getting in and out of it.
But you are right Tony, no car is for everyone. I only wish I could get into Corvette's, because I've many friends over the years that have had them. I've always been polite and complimented them on "their" cool car, but inside felt nothing for it.

Agree Greorge. My neighbor has a Mazda Miata and it is a nice little sports car. BUT, the key word is LITTLE. It is too small(interior) for me. The neighbor is 5'6" and has 30 years less wear on his body. I just can't handle the contortions of getting in and out of it. Same goes with entering and exiting a Vette.
Whenever people who are unaccustomed to getting in a Corvette sit in my car...
... the reaction is always the same. They feel as though they're sitting on the ground.
Like me, most of my friends are getting older so doing the physical dance of getting into my car is almost always a chore for them. Once in and settled, then the stark reality hits them! Getting in was the EASY part! Now, at some point in the very near future they're gonna have to get out! They dread the thought of having to go through the machinations of exiting the car! Of course, I always help with gently lowering them in the car, and assist when pulling them out. I can't help it but I do have that devilish side of me that just LOVES watching the ingress/egress show! Hehe!
This model is one of my favorites..
While the tooling is older, the reason I love it is that in the spring of 1983, I saw the first of this style of Corvette on the cover of Motor Trend. It was a white one, and it was such a big deal to me as this was the first all new Corvette in my lifetime (I was 13 at the time).
LOL Marlowe...when I was 20 I thought it was difficult getting down into a Vette, and feeling like I was sitting on the ground while in it, was what I didn't like.

Jerry is correct about getting in a Miata but I still do it along with a Toyota MR2 just a matter of what you want! No Problem bumped shinns and all. We have several 2 place cars the Thunderbird is easiest Miata top is low same for the Fiero GT but the MR2 is easy to get in and out. The Altima Coupe is a little low on the roof so makes it more of a chore. Now if you need to find a small vehicle try a Honda Micro Pick Up (KEI class) that was made for Japan sales only I can get in and out but every part of the body colides with something now that is tight.
I know Clap your hands, well it can't be done.
