Believe it or not I have NO FM Edsels!

I only have the LE Edsel DM Station Wagon. What do you think is the best FM Edsel to own?

Hard to say Phil. I have all of the FM Edsel models and I have the DM Wagon in Red (I had the Blue-but sold it-not sure why) They all have a few issues to my eyes. The DM wagon just looks a little off in the front end, and the FM versions look a little better, but not quite right. And of course FM's versions have a few other issues too. With all of that, I love each one of them and really appreciate what they bring to my collection.

Nice photos! This is the only FM Edsel of the four convertibles that I don't have.

Wish I had it only for the sake of then having all four colors. But the car itself is not perfect by any stretch. Biggest problem on all of them to my eyes, is the omission of no glass in the "wing-windows". Seems it would have been very easy for FM to fix, but they never did.

As for the DM Edsel wagon, I have it too, but it is one of my least favorite die-cast cars on my shelf. Looks way to "toy-like" to me.

Phil, out of all of the FM Citations...

...the two most accurate are the original chalk pink and frost white and the turquoise and frost white versions. This coral and black version is wrong on many levels. First, sunset coral was unavailable on Citations and Corsairs. It was only available on Rangers, Pacers and Bermuda wagons. This version also has an incorrect interior color combination. Black and white interior was unavailable on the Citation convertible. It could however, be ordered on the Pacer convertible. The black and red version is okay; the red FM used on the model is inaccurate. It should be identical to the ember red DM used on their Bermuda.

While on the subject of the DM Bermuda - the front of the model is slightly off because the center grill is slanted backward at the top when it should be completely vertical. The flooring on the ember red version is also incorrect. The Bermudas had color-keyed flooring with the rest of the interior, so the flooring in that model should be brown. Don't get me started on the horizon blue preview society version. The exterior color is beautiful, but the color that is supposed to represent royal blue within the interior is WAY off.

thanks for your Input! I was leaning towards the original Caulk pink one you mentioned

It just looks "right" to me compared to the other 3 FM versions.

You're welcome, Phil...I've owned over a dozen Edsels over the years, and I keep hoping we'll see a diecast model of one (preferably a Pacer convertible) that is spot-on.

Confused?

Wouldn't this be the 5th issue.

Pink/Cream & Brown - 1
Turquois/Cream - 2
Coral/Black - 3
Black over Red - 4

This one is Red over black - 5

I didn't even see this Red one on the car lists for FM. Thanks for any clarification.

Hi James... Sunset Coral is difficult to photograph, even on 1:1 Edsels, as is the turquoise on these models. The model shown in John's photos is the coral version, despite it looking red. I've tried numerous times to get an accurate representation of the turquoise Citation without success. This is as good as I could get!

Randy the one post here by John is DEFINITELY RED with black and white trim interior

Maybe the colors name is Coral, but either FM screwed up the color OR painted it a shade of RED and used the incorrect color name Coral might be hard to photograph, but its RED to my eyes and nothing else!

Don't be confused I think its the colors NAME thats throwing you off

Perhaps release # three WAS Coral/black trim and that IS the model picture here with to me definitely looks RED. Either FM got the colors name wrong OR they used the incorrect color and called it Coral, but it IS RED to me and anyone else whos not color blind. SO there are only FOUR versions to day! TO me the original release is sort of looks like a shade of coral, though definitely more PINK.

Phil, FM clearly used the wrong color name...

...when describing the "sunset coral" Citation. Must have been someone who didn't know much if anything about Edsels. I've looked at one on eBay just to make sure it isn't my computer's monitor playing tricks on me. The correct color name for the "sunset coral" Citation should have been ember red. It looks quite similar to the red DM used on their Bermuda wagon. A pity FM didn't use the correct interior color on the model, though. Otherwise, I would add this one to my collection to join the chalk pink and the turquoise versions!
