John you have to adjust the flip panel in the front. I wrote up a post about this!
Basically all of these came through this way. The fix is to stretch the hinges slightly. do this by inserting a credit card inbetween the roof and front panel then slowly and gently keep flexing the front panel "up" to its closed position. This stretches/bends the brass slightly so that the panel with then sit flush and even with the roof when its full up.

Phil I did that for the Red/White one. This one sits in my display always with the top down. The Black/white sits in partial mode. So all three are displayed in a way that reflects all positions.

I have both this one and Danbury's green version. I like this color combination better. However, if I were a 1:24 scale driver, I would hesitate to drive this one, as it is missing both the rear view mirror and a side mirror. Anyway, I don't think I could get it to go, as if I remember correctly (I have to check mine) it is missing the shift selector lever.:D
