PICs - Daily Dose of Diecast...Sunday
Today I am off to the Orphan Car Show in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I attended this car show last year for the first time, there were a lot of great cars even with the rain. So today is supposed to be sunny and warm, the show should be awesome.
Here are a few orphans from my collection...
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 440 Hardtop, DM
1951 Hudson Hornet Club Coupe, FM
1956 DeSoto Firedome Convertible & Fireflite Sportsman Hardtop, DM
1949 Mercury Club Coupe, DM
1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX Hardtop, DM
1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible, FM
1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Catalina Hardtop, FM
1970 Pontiac GTO "The Judge" Convertible & Hardtop, GMP
1950 Studebaker Champion Coupe & Convertibles, DM
1949 Oldsmobile Futuramic Rocket 88 Club Coupe, DM
While some of these cars are not considered "true orphans" as their parent still survives, the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum Foundation defines them as such maybe "abandoned" would be better.
No matter, I anticipate a lot of great cars in attendance and in a perfect setting of Riverside Park located in Depot Town.

Thanks for the pictures John. Enjoy your outing at the orphan car show.
Great group of classics / great pics.
Beautiful models and photos. Hope you see an Edsel!
Ditto.
Great shots, I think you have been into my display cases as I have all these models
Simply terrific.
WOW! John, you out did yourself today. These photos and all the cars are incredible offerings from both mints. I have all, love all! Thanks as always for posting all your photos John, they always make my day.

I must say towards the end DM had just about "perfected" die-cast!! The scaling and delicate nature
Of all the small parts was amazing, and what was even more incredible, is that everything fit together perfectly, gaplessly (did I create a word? LOL), etc..
Phil, I'd agree. A few of DM's last offerings were the '56 Buick, '59 Pontiac, '41 Chevy. I think they were as perfect as perfect could be. And then, sadly, DM was gone.

I agree with all except the 41 Chevrolet . THAT was released years ago
I think the mean the two tone green Fleetline. But that was a 48-9?
Yes Phil, I meant the 48 Chevy. It's been about three years since it was released, and I think the last one we got from DM. At least it was the last one I added to my shelf. It's a beauty!
Oh, and the 41, I have and love that one as well.

That's nice to hear, Phil....It was a lot of fun too!
You have a lot to be proud of Rich! You were behind many great models
Some of which are my most favorite DM models.
