PICs - Daily Dose of Diecast...Sunday
Here is one of my favorite models. It is absolutely amazing in it's execution. It's too bad DM never released the Grapetone version, I was really looking forward to it.

Sharp Sutde coupe / outstanding pics.
One of DMs best efforts
Looks great parked next to the pick up truck also
I have this one and am glad I ordered it! Lovely model
I think it is a great looking car. Can anyone tell me about the real car, such as were they mid range, luxury or entry level. Were they good cars or would you want to stay with Ford, General Motors or Chrysler.

Well, interesting questions. I don't know a whole lot...
but the Dictator replaced the Standard Six in 1927, first full year was 1928 and the Dictator model was offered from 1927-1937. It was Studebaker's entry level, followed by the Commander and then the President. The Commander was dropped in 1935, but returned in 1938 when the Dictator was renamed because of the world climate at the time. Originally the model was equipped with a six-cylinder, but an 8-cylinder was offered in 1929, the 8-cyl became the only engine by 1931.
Now as far as quality or production, I don't know. I can tell you that I have only seen one 1936 & one 1937 example in all the car shows I have attended.

John, thanks for the reply, now that I think about it performance comes to mind
Remembering the Golden Hawks of the fifties and the Avanti in the early sixties. Maybe they were ahead of their time.
Thanks again for all of your postings.
