PICs - Daily Dose of Diecast...Tuesday

OK, this isn't what I had planned today...but Mark's post of the '58 Packard Hawk in blue inspired me to show my Parade Red version. While not a popular 1:1, or model either. This is one of my favorites, both model and car.
I have seen several of these in the last couple of years, and each one is a thrill to see.

I would have bought this red one if DM didn't have so much coming out at the time. Oh well. Sure is pretty in red.

While not a fan of the catfish front styling, the rest is beautiful! Awesome photos!

Thanks for posting the photo, John.

I REALLY wish I had one. So ugly it's beautiful. Maybe it's because I enjoy fishing.

What's very odd to me is the pleated vinyl/leather

That's outside on top of the doors and quarter panels! A) it must have absorbed water with every rainstorm and became a soggy sponge
B) it looks silly and serves no purpose (MAYBE to rest your elbows on but ?????? Come on!)
C) how long could that material lasted looking "nice"?
D) I'd think that it made the top door areas rust out!!!

Gr8 pics. I've never seen it in this color. I like it the best.

I always wondered about the practicality of that design touch, too.

Studebaker Packard was at death's door then so they probably figured what the hell.
