LOL, but just another day at the office for you! Sigh... I would have loved...

... to have seen and experienced the things you've seen! Those sights must have been really something to behold! I can only imagine....

Marlowe, when I was assigned to Travis AFB in California in 1958 they still had 27 B-36 bombers in

SAC.

Sometimes they would put all of them up in the middle of the night and the barraks would shake as they passed overhead on take-off.

They replaced them with B-52 jets within about a year.

I am sure very few of us as civilians.............

have had the opportunity to see one of these at an air show and flying and furthermore to be able to take pictures of this outstanding aircraft parked on the tarmac fifteen feet away from where we were at the Nellis Air Force Base in 1997.

It was a memorable experience and we still have the pictures and the sight in mind how powerful this aircraft was.

It was also the year the F-22 was just a mockup on the tarmac.

At the time, my son was 14 YO..........now he is an aerospace engineer for the AFFTC at Edwards Air Force Base....quite a dedication to his passion from a kid.

These planes don't fly anymore. you can see one at the Edwards AFB Museum not in it pristine shape of coating.....it has just been repainted black and is one of the main exhibits.

By the way, anybody went to the Camarillo CA air show last weekend?

It was wonderful, we took more than 200 pictures and 15 videos of ww II war birds, rare prototypes including the original Northtrop flying wing and many more. For the first time, 2 P-38 where there including the "glacier lady", a rare spitfire with a RR Griffon engine, all Grumman series of fighters and so many more.

Next year, my son told me I will need ear plugs for the next show......it will be the ultra high tech show at his work place.

Marlowe, I have a VHS movie of "Strategic Air Command" starring the B-36 and Jimmy Stewart.

The movie has incredible flight shots of the B-36 and even some footage of the B-47.

I need to get a DVD or Bluray if they make it.

How lucky to have seen this craft in action. I saw one stationary on the deck of the

USS Intrepid aircraft carrier/museum in NYC. Even that was impressive !
