That would be a 'dream' scenerio. But, I wonder what the price-point would be to...

... cover the cost of the tooling for every year? They've got to produce - and sell - enough to cover tooling and make a little profit too.

It's a wonder the Mints did as good as they did.
But, sort of to your point... look at John's WCPD collection. They did SO many different colors of a particular year - was that necessary? It must've been to recover the cost for 'that' tooling.
I was waiting to see WCPD do a '60 Chevy El Camino and '60 sedan delivery ....which never came. #!#%^ it! LOL!
They're on MY wish list. LOL!

And...having '4' major scales isn't helping either. While trying to give up on 1:24s, the mfg's made a major push for 1:18s and 1:43s - which I personally didn't go for...except For a few 1:18s.
Thee's no easy answer.
for me - I'm sticking with 1:24s....come what may.

Is that just a daydream to enjoy, or a serious proposal?

Are you talking, the big three + independents, each brand they produced being made in 1/24 to represent a year by year model change, perhaps?

Billy, I'll tell you who I felt sorry, it was the mints. No matter what they produced, people complained about the color, it's not a hardtop, it should have been a convertible, I don't like the skirts, I don't like the continental kit, it has a hood ornament, it sits too high, the roof is shaped wrong, the gas cap doesn't open, the wheels are wrong, it doesn't have working suspension, or I'd buy it if it was a station wagon, or this year and not the year it was...and the list of complaints just went on and on.

And all of us were guilty of these complaints and comments. It's a wonder the mints sold any cars at all. No matter what they produced, the complaints and criticism was rampant with every car.

Yes, it's a serious proposal. Look at how cool John Merritt's daily dose is with the Chevy's for every year. This would have made the fun of collecting even more fun than it already is.

Phil, I have no problem with what each person enjoys about a particular model. And I don't have an issue with fellow collectors wanting "their" favorite model to be just "as they would like it".

What does bother me is comments like, "I didn't buy it because I didn't like the color", or "The hood ornament didn't look right so I didn't buy it".

Now to best answer your question, I'm going to direct you and anyone else that cares to, to go to the "Car List & Reviews" page here on the Forum and read ALL OF THE MANY reviews I've posted on all of the cars I've got in my collection.

It'll sound like I'm bragging, but I think I am more honest and respectful than some others in giving a car a rating. Some reviewers take points off of a car because it "wasn't the color they wanted it to be". Seriously?!?!

With all due respect to those folks, they have no idea what reviewing a car is all about. And I'm always shaking my head remember the old saying, "They would complain if they were hung with a new rope".
