That it's a '58 and not a '57!...

I love '57s, even owned one once. A classic, sweet design with perfect proportions and uncluttered styling.

Then for '58 it became the T-Bird Forcaster, except that what looked great on the new 'Bird - taillights and grill for instance - didn't really work on the Fairlanes et al, with their taller bodies.

But that's just my opinion, and thank you Larry for presenting the opportunity to air my gripe.

Looks OK to me. If ya want nit pickin' ya gotta give us something! The half moons on the headlights might not be desirable, but they're easily removed, so, not worth nittin' those. The three pieces on the rear fenders aren't normally seen, but were part of a "Spring Special" trim on Fairlane 500s and Fairlanes to help boost sales in a recession year.

I'd say that the three rectangular chrome pieces on the rear fenders is incorrect. I've never seen those on any 58 Ford I've ever seen.

Aside from that flaw (if it is one), that is one beautiful car! I've always liked the 58 Ford's far better than the 57's because of the interesting grill and the unique and different tail light design. The 59 Ford's went back to the round (trademark) tail lights and the grill reminded me of the 57's. So the 58's were just enough different to strike my fancy as being the best looking of the three years.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

The Fairlane 500 script is from a '59 along with those 3 strikes on the rear fender.

Great looking car too!

Not sure if the trunk center mount antenna is stock but it looks good.

PIC-George, Marlow, etc. the three trim pieces on the rear fenders are correct, but were not common since they were only part of Spring Specials on Fairlanes and Fairlane 500s.The Fairlane script was re-located on cars with this trim. The three pieces from the '59 were different and only on customs. Also, the trunk mounted antenna is a correct option. Here's a '58 Fairlane Spring Special whicha also added gold trim within the side two toning cove.

Anybody remember the little song that Tennesee Ernie Ford sang about '58 Fords?

Ford Motor Company was a sponsor of the Tennesee Ernie Ford variety show, and it was common for the host of shows in the 50's and 60's to "act" in some of their sponsor's spots. Tennesee Ernie Ford sang "Ford, Ford, the googly-eyed Ford . . ." referring to the new quad headlights - a first for Ford and many other manufacturers in 1958. Sure wish one of the mints would make a '58 in 1:24.

Steve! Are you saying you have yet to master the four magic words?

I have learned that these 4 magic words absolutely, positively, without any doubt, ends ALL arguments with the "Big Boss!" Those words are "You're absolutely right, Dear!"

For example:
You forgot to.... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You said so and so... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You promised you would... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You said you'd stop... You're absolutely right, Dear!
That was really dumb of you... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You need to... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You should of... You're absolutely right, Dear!
You're absolutely right, Dear!
You're absolutely right, Dear!
You're absolutely right, Dear!

I've heard that before and just haven't learned my lesson yet. Thanx for the reminder.
