PICS - Thunderbird
Danbury Mint - 1961 Ford Thunderbird HT - Honey Beige

Gorgeous and I don't have it...damn.
Purdy birdie. Great pics.
my parents had the exact car, color and all... took my drivers test in it!
.. and I have the model!
Great shots Larry! Too bad DM shortchanged the rear fenders.
The exhaust system is not supposed to be that visible.photo no longer available

To me this whole model looks 'off'
It looks too short and stubby for one, the roof is definitely too low and gives the model a chopped look. The rear quarter panels should be several scale inches longer as should the front clip. The body also seems a little too thick from rocker panel to beltline. Then there's the low hanging exhaust and fuel tank, etc. it's def not they're best effort at modeling. Somehow the black LE Landau looks a bit better
If I were to be asked to give an example of an ugly American car, the 61 Thunderbirds make my top five list. It went from drop-dead gorgeous with the 58, 59, and 60s, to the bent looking and stubby 61s. The lines of the car from front to back and top to bottom, just don't run smoothly at all. It looks like a car put together by committee.

Larry just wanted to make mention that ....
I DO appreciate your posts, pictures and contributions. I was just making what I feel is constructive critique on the model itself. It was "almost there" but not quite IMO. Looks nice on a shelf though and is unmistakably a 1961 Thunderbird! LOL In comparison I would relate this model to DMs 1956 300b. While it definitely represents the 1:1 and immediately one takes it for what it was intended to, a close inspection will reveal some incorrect proportions/shapes.
