Like Chevrolet, Pontiac had their Tri-5 from '55-'57. I'll start with the '55 and '56 which, like Chevy were outwardly distinguishable by minor trim changes and grill. For comparison I'll compare the top of the line Star Chief Both years continued the iconic twin 'waterfall' trim than ran the length of the hood and the crest of the rear fenders which was discontinued in '57. The badging and scripts changed positions still keeping the 3 stars. The '56 offered a chrome rear fender spear that acted as a side marker light that extended to the tail lamps that would become a full length side spear the following year. Both cars shared  common extended chassis that marked the Star Chief over the cheaper Chieftain. '56 also offered a dramatic increase in power going from max 0f 180 HP in '55  to a bored out 317 cid V8 that offered up to 285 HP with 2X4 bbl carbs and dual exhaust. I'm posting comparison pics with FM's '55 CV and a pretty accurate '56 4 door hardtop made from an old promo I detailed. Its only shortcoming is the undersized "Chief Pontiac" hood ornament.

Here's a '56 Star Chief Safari by Tootsietoy in about 1/28 scale that I've had since a kid and beat the hell out of it. I has a full interior that I'd have to do major surgery to gat the body off to clean and paint it.

Tomorrow I'll do the '57 and the breakout '58.

Great stuff Rich. I dont know why FM didn't do the '56 and jumped straight to the '57.🤔

Rich, the detailing you did on the 56 promo is outstanding. The Sandalwood/Beige was my favorite color combo for 1956.
