When Danbury Mint decided to do their 1/24 take on the 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, the one-upper the old FM model and really attempted to replicate the '50s tech "Rube Goldberg" mechanics of the retractable hard top. I wonder how much trial and error went into the final product and its flawless action.
Rich,
Your pictures really show what an amazing model this one is. I have the red and black version. I need to pull it off display and explore it now. Great pics.
THEEE best pictures of this wonderbeast 👍 👍 👍 👍
I have this color combination along with the red/black. I display these two in the half open stance while my FM versions are displayed either fully open of fully closed. Great pictures Rich and John.
You've got me counting carpet flecks in pic 11 again Rich!
thank you for your awesome presentations, your efforts are always appreciated.
This has always been a favorite of mine-the color is perfect-not a color often seen. DM chose unusual, seldom seen colors, which makes more special. The solid blue is incredible, and while I couldn't wait for the black/red to arrive when I ordered it years ago, the blue is my favorite of the three.

Great pics. I have this one. Got it a number of years ago at a bargain price as there was some damage on the passenger side which I repaired for the most part. I display in a case from the driver's side so it doesn't really matter to me.
I have the 3 DM Skyliners and they are nothing but beautiful. The green and white one was my first diecast car. I had a green and white 57 Ford Fairlane 2 door sedan for my first car and I seen the Skyliner on EBAY and had to have it. Besides the 3 DM Skyliners I also have the blue and white FM. I think the Dresden Blue DM is my favorite of the 4. I have to thank DM and FM for the cars they made. They are all first class!
