Question: what is most you've paid for a 1:24 diecast model and what was it? I paid just over $300 USD a few months ago for my DM 1957 Eldorado Seville in Elysian Green. They don't come up often and I HAD to have it. It was MIB. I passed on it when offered by DM as I already had the Biarritz and thought at the time that one '57 Eldo was enough. ???? Lol.
paid
I paid $350.00 for A 67 Charger and I did not care I wanted it.
Well .. let's just say ....
That back in the day ... way in the past
... What's Hot \ What's not ...
I bought and I sold .....
Diecast cars
Prices had a comma in the price.
And I'm going to leave it at that.
Revell Creative Masters Yellow Camaro
Franklin Mint White Rolls Corniche
Pebble Beach '61 White Lincoln
These (3) three are part of many diecast that have crossed my plate back in the day that had comma in the price.
But back in the day ... Is NOT ... TODAY
TODAY .... those late 1990 prices would never see the light of day today
Today is a different day
Times may change ... but my love and affection for diecast cars is real and it will be for ever
I consider them works of art and I try to purchase what catches my eye
I still retain a few diecast cars that prices are between $600 and $900
July 2015 is a different animal compared back to the late 1990 and early 2000
Great point Dennis. Sort of glad I got in this game later. I would...
...not have paid $300+ for much of anything. And my collection would be no where near the size it is otherwise...120+.
To the question...
Well, I paid $269 for a DM '60 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible. I got a good one...no missing pieces. So, it was worth it.
Have variety of ultra rare FM and DM samples ...
that I paid north of 300 each.
My most expensive production cars were CMC silver/black Horch, CMC white MB 300D, CMC yellow/blue MB 540K and burgundy + blue MCUSA Talbot's. Have not paid a price's with coma yet.
My highest two are both from FM. The 1941 Continental in Dark Blue and the 1956 Mark II in white, both were $450 ea.

Billy .... Here is my story -
One day .... long long ago ....
I was walking thru the Florida Mall in South Orlando.
I saw a Franklin Mint Store with many wonderful and amazing things. - I was in the store for hours.
I was mesmerized!
The manager spent hours with me showing me around.
Teaching me about the Franklin Mint & the Resnicks
I'll never forget her ... her name was Marcia
And then ... Marcia told me about Jay Olins & his website.
I came home, fired up the Acer and I logged on
Roy was posting his "What's Hot \ What's Not" newsletter - and everybody was clinging to his every word
After 3 girlfriends and 2 jobs ... I found the auction tab
I loved the auction tab.
And yes... my jaw hit the floor when I say auction prices
I really thought this was some kind of joke
I tracked and followed the auction action for months
One day ... I tipped my toe in the water ....
And I placed a bid.
And now you know .... "The Rest of the Story!"
One way or another ...car guys/gals have to get their 'fix'.
Around '92, I kept seeing car magazine ads for the FM '63 split window / Riverside Red. Then, came the DM '57 Bel Air convertible / Harbor Blue. Still have them and they both still display very well.
Too bad FM / DM aren't still around; but, I'll get my 'fix' one way or another! LOL!
Funny you menton this ..... because
My very first Franklin Mint Die Cast Car was the F -40
My very second Franklin Mint Die Cast Car was the ....
1963 ''' Split Rear Window ... Red Corvette
And yes .... I remember those full page ads
I have collected many of those
I think I paid $450 for a DM '67 Camaro convertible...
during the feeding frenzy for those cars. Actually bought it here from our own Tony Perrone! A bit later, a "birdy" told me DM was going to reissue, and I was very fortunate to sell it for the same price, then pick up a new one from DM later on. I think the most expensive I sold was the Lambo Police car, many years ago, for $1500 or so.
Never will forget what my top price was. It was $568 for a low # FM Ltd Ed of 500 Starmist White Continental Mark II on this site in the late 90's. Just happen to get in a bidding war near closing. Even went passed the closing time.
The most I paid is pretty much a tie !!
the FM 1911 Mercedes Skiff and the PB 1961 Continental. I think I paid about $540 each ! For the Continental it was a bargin as during that time they were going for 950-$-1300+. Reason? Mine was missing the hood ornament and the seller said the trunk had scratches in the paint. An hour of polishing the model and buying a distressed black version for its ornament corrected those issues! Low # too #33 😍
JD that Green one is awesome! Have it, love it !
IMO it's nicer then the garish blue version. To bright a color for such an elegant car!
Aw Yes ... Lambo Police Car .... Good Times - Good Times!
BOOM! ... Smart man!! - You did good on the PB '61 Lincoln and .....
# 33 ??:-/
Yeah buddy !
I say you came out on top of this deal:D
Good man!
