Never went above $150, and still won't. My collecting days are long ago over considering a new Riviera is being offered by Automodell for $300 to $450. I wouldn't even pay that much for a '57 Olds Ninety-Eight HT.

I may be alone, but someone has to take a stand on this.

Phil, My four highest prices paid for a 1:24 model are:

Two 1939 LECC XI 1939 Delahayes, blue and black, color samples, $900 + each on this site; FM 1933 Pierce-Arrow, open trunk, $1,100, 2009; MCUSA 1937 Talbot-Lago, black, $1,900, 2011. I bought another black Talbot-Lago 2 years earlier but sold it for $2,500. I bought these models because I wanted them and I could. My vices are few and model car collecting is at the top of the list. The fact that I am a widower, have no children and am getting up in years helped.

2, 1946 Motor City Cadillac, 1911 Mercedes Benz Skiff @ $600.00 Each. The highest for any was Bauer Mercedes Benz 1/12th $1,700.00. Had ordered it when it was $1,600.00 but when the bill came Visa was charged the $1,700.00. Next was a 2005 Bentley Continental 1/12th Scale Resin for the sum of $389.00-List price was $500.00. I each of 1/12th DM 56 Corvette, 57 Corvette, 1930 Cadillac Roadster, a FM 67 Mint Models L/E Corvette and 2 each of DM 57 Red Chevrolet Convertible & 2 each of 1965 Mustang Convertible (White)all from DM & FM for $500.00 each.

Now am I stupid? well if I bought them for Investment yes. But I certainly enjoy looking at them. I find new/more Features every time I look/study them.

To be truthful some of the $100 to $150 cars offer as much enjoyment. Those are 2 Mattel 1998 Corvettes-Hardtop & a Convertible, Sunstar Morris Minor Cv & Wagon, VW Pan Am Livery Transporter, Yellow Racing Livery Jag XK220 + a Dark Blue Street Version XK220 & a Ford GT. 1/12th is a Problem because of space they take up.

I have over 6,000 cars most are 1/24th as that is the scale I started with. There are about 1,000 1/43rd cars. I said it would be "A Cold Day In Hell" when I spent more than $300 for a RESIN car. Now I have 24 of them. I paid $300 or under for the majority of those cars. My collecting has slowed mostly due to availability and PRICE. Somehow my aggressiveness has subsided with these prices, not that space hasn't also made it's impact.

Didn't you buy the Automodello Lincoln for $285?

You darn right it was returned. One side, windows up, the other side windows down, and the car screwed to a base. No way it was worth $285. It was returned and that is the end of my 1.24 collecting since the prices have raised to only a rich man's availability to afford. I won't pay them!
