Question about FM 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL Roadster- #LE of 450
photo no longer available
this car is listed as LE of 450. I have seen it offered on ebay at least 5 times and it does not sell for $124. At the same time the red remake and the blue/beige version routinly sells for 90-100$. Not to speak about the CMC versions of 450SL that I think are inferior to the FM versions. Any insight?
The FM version is better than the CMC version. As I recall, the FM 450 LE version was made for the Mercedes Museum and is differentiated from the regular FM blue version by the headlight style. The car list here may show the difference for sure.
Chav the FM Mercedes is one of their BEST models!
Loaded with details and accurate textures and it's a 10 star model IMO. You'll love it! Don't worry about rare or any other hokey pokey LE non-sense. You can get the blue/tan interior/Tan Top version for around $60-$130 in MIB condition and it will be money well spent!

I agree the FM 450SL is better than the CMC version...
... I have both CMC colors - red and silver (though with broken bumpers) and they are worse than FM especially under the hood. But they sell much better than the FM's and are rarer on eBay (but not rarer than blue/blue FM version). That's why I wondered why the blue/blue FM 450SL does not sell so well.
I love the model myself...
... and I have 5 of them the blue/beige, the silver/blue and the blue/blue versions as well as the red and silver CMC versions (both CMC with issues). Missing the red FM one for now. I was mostly wondering why the collectors are not so excited about the blue/blue version if it is so rare. As of yesterday there was one on eBay for $124 (buy it now). It is sold by the same seller I bought mine from. And I have seen it listed several times and it does not sell. I think is well worth the money unless there is something I don't know, perhaps being more common that listed.
