Question To D4C Moderators / Hosts

How hard / difficult would it be to add a feature to D4C website

such as ....

Under the D4C auction tab ... Add a button = "Want To Buy" :-/

Now I know This is just my own stupid thought ...

I feel the want list as we know it ... That Want List is HIDDEN and depends on "IF" an item is listed

I think ... that it the Want List was total transparent to all .... D4C buyer & D4C sellers

... that " maybe " just maybe

"WANT LIST" item just may spark a person to take notice and maybe moved to list that particular item in D4C aution

Why list items that don't sell ?

"No Sale" do nothing for D4C

But think about this ...

What if WANT LIST was transparent :-/

(1) Want List would be generating more sales for D4C

(2) D4C Sellers would be listing items they know had greater chance of selling

( a ) More happy D4C sellers

( b ) Happy D4C sellers help support D4C

(3) D4C Buyers would the comfort knowing their WANT LIST has a more far reaching effect than what is available now

So ... If "Want List" item is total transparent ... seen by all

D4C seller is motivated to list in D4C auction ... there fore increasing D4C auction sales

"Want List" D4C buyer is notified their wish list item is listed on D4C auction therefore directing more potential traffic to D4C auction website

Granted not everything is perfect ....

I feel ... If there was a platform D4C sellers knew what I was looking for - that maybe D4C sellers may say ... hey!, I never thought about selling that - Let me give this a shot"

OK ...

I'm rambling now

I think I got my point across

ANYBODY ??

What are your thoughts /

Please post your thoughts so upper management can hear our voice

Because let's face it ... sellers can sell any where at anytime

What can D4C do to capture more of the buyer / seller market share?

Time to think out of the box ... 1 small step at a time

I like the idea

As I am in the process of selling my collection (897 cars) left to sell to pay Medical bills

No idea if that is a costly addition or not. Some of what you propose...

...is currently handled by posts to the specific forum in the form of asking if anyone has a particular model that they'd like to sell.

Initially, the Want List was envisioned for the buyer who didn't want a fanfare announcing just what he/she was looking for and the potential of a bidding war.

I've been using 'My Want List' for years. It works for me.

I've just this minute tried the onboard wish list and its easy to use.

But its really just a notification service letting you know when the model sought is listed. The feature doesn't seem to spread the word or appear where a collector can see if somebody is interested in a model they may want to part with.

Have I assessed that correctly?

It's entirely possible if my observation is incorrect so apologies if that is so.

Bruce - U R absolutely correct ...

Bruce ...

You are absolutely correct

"WANT LIST" is very easy to use ...

You go to the WANT LIST

You enter the item your heart desires into the WANT LIST

And you wait ... and you wait

That information is attached to a notification service

"IF" ... and I do mean "IF" somebody just happens to list your item of desire

WANT LIST is a lot like sitting in a dark closet ... just sitting there

What I propose is total transparency

WANT LIST is available for ALL to see

Maybe a person has 2 or 3 of a certain item

Maybe he never thought about selling ...

... until ...

He happens to look at the WANT LIST

He sees an item on the WANT LIST that he happens to have in his collection

... He decides to list the item up on the D4C auction

Buyer gets what he "WANTS"

Seller hopefully makes a sale on an item

And D4C house gets it "cut" of the transaction

A person posts on a particular forum of what they are looking for ... and then a reply is posted informing them that they can go to the WANT LIST ....

It like ... "well - go stand in the closet, put your want in the dark closet and hope that someday your want come true

Put it out there for everybody to see

I've tried the WANT LIST ... every WANT LIST item expired and NEVER got filled

NEVER

But if EVERYBODY had access to it ...

then ...

I think .... more auction activity would prevail

I think ... "Want List" needs to be transparent

WANT LIST is not transparent ... it's a dark closet.

I propose this ....

"WANT LIST" is available for all to see

People only need to see the item

No need to list peoples names ... Just the item

Simple

This will be my last say on this.

Hey ...

At least roll out a BETA program

Give it 6 months

If it works and you don't do it ...

vs

If it works and you do it

It can't hurt

Walter ... Correct me if I am wrong ....

You are a seller

You go to the WANT LIST

All you want to see is .... the item

You have "NO NEED" to know person name / email

All you need ... what item are people looking for.

Am I correct ?

Thank You John ... If this gains traction remains to B seen - We can only hope

I saw a need to expand the D4C experience.

I expressed the need.

I also presented a solution.
