Regarding post #25528 below......I have in my catalog/brochure collection a postcard from the Pontiac Div of GM showing a 1955 Pontiac convertible black over red. I'm in Florida for the month of March and when I'm back home early April I can put a copy of the postcard on Bulletin Board.

PICS: 1955 Pontiac ads......Black over Red is more popular

This was a very popular color combination. I found 3 separate ads for this particular color scheme....Here are 2 ads for Pontiac enjoyment....

Barry...first HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Second, yes order the other color combo for yourself. Smile
I ordered both cars, and I haven't been this excited to receive FM cars in years. Yes I know they are repaints...but the two combos are so darn exciting.

And I also agree that it is neat to be able to choose colors if you want to. When DM did that a couple of years ago with their Ford Crestliners, I loved the concept. Of course I ended up ordering both of them too. Smile
But it is neat to be able to have a choice if one wants to. I think the mints should always put out their cars in two colors when they release them. I think it would be popular among collectors, and probably most would buy both colors anyway.

Enjoy your birthday!!!

George, I share your enthusiasm over these 2 too Smile
Something about the colors and the timing...it's like back in the 50's when the auto manufacturers regularly offered "spring specials", new colors or trims to spark sales after the winter doldrums.

It's also the color of the convertible on the I Love Lucy Show ...They went to Hollywood in a 1955 Pontiac Starchief Convertible the exact same Black over Red. Cool.

What a sweet Birthday present, Barry. Have a super B-Day!

Patty, I'm going to respectfully disagree about the Ricardo's Pontiac...

Even though the show was filmed in black and white - to me, the colors of that '55 Pontiac convertible looked like some medium color - red perhaps - over a light color, maybe white.

Hi Patty ! Beautiful ads there of that gorgeous '55 Pontiac. I think it's one of the best-looking cars of any era. Thanks for those images.

Oh Patty, I remember that "I Love Lucy" series of shows that featured the 55 Pontiac. It always bothered me that there wasn't a windshield in the car. Do you recall that?

With regards to these FM Pontiac's, they are very anticipated by me. I really think the turquoise & white hardtop and the two convetible's are among the best cars that FM gave us back in their glory days.

Barry...I agree with you about he colors of the Ricardo's

Pontiac. Perhaps it was black over yellow like the convertible that FM gave us. Could it have been?

The windshield was removed to avoid studio light reflections.
